Back to Burgundy

My friend Katelyn and I spent four magical days in Burgundy in June. We crashed geologist Brenna Quigley’s terroir tour at Domaine Dujac and we tasted a stunning double vertical of Clos de la Roche and Clos Saint Denis together including 2002, which was the vintage I was there as an intern more than twenty years ago. Jeremy, Diana and the Seysses family’s legendary generosity was in full force - we were very lucky to be included in delicious lunches and fun dinners drinking literally some of “the finest wines available to humanity”.

Katelyn and I also had a blast spying on vineyards in Montrachet, Meursault, Vosne-Romanee, Vougeot, Morey Saint Denis and Gevrey-Chambertin making observations about the different trellising systems, biodynamics and shoot thinning and hedging methods. So grateful we had such an epic trip - although with the combination of great friends, great wines, great roast chickens and great cheeses, how could we not? I came home reenergized and reinspired, especially about how wine brings people together all over the world. Cheers!
